東和玩具 / フィブル［二期］&ボジェス宣教師〈+Eng sub〉

1月に抽選販売された東和玩具さんのフィブルと宣教師のセットです。

昨年、東和玩具さんのインスタグラムのポストに、フィブル二期には1パーツの指人形が付属することを予告されていました。フィブルの前身であるコチコチが付属するのかな？　と予想しましたが、正解は新作のボジェス宣教師でした！

フィブルは、1期のカラーリングがウータム1期と同系統であったため、賭けでしたが、1期の抽選販売に参加せずに、2期カラーに期待を寄せました。毎度抽選倍率が高い状況ですから、フィブル1期は、新規ファンが少しでも当選しやすいようにという配慮があったのではないでしょうか。

フィブルは、全高約15センチ、5パーツ構成、薄紫の成形色。

ボジェス宣教師は、全高約4センチ、ベージュ系の成型色。

This set of Fibble and Missionary by Towa Toys was sold by lottery in January. Last year, Towa Toy's Instagram post announced that the second phase of Fibble would come with a one-part finger puppet. I wondered if Kochiko, the predecessor of Fibble, would be included?　I predicted that it would, but the correct answer was the new Missionary Boggess!

The Fibble was a gamble, since the first period's coloring was in the same vein as the first period of Wutam, but I did not participate in the lottery sales for the first period and had high hopes for the second period's coloring. Since the lottery odds are high every time, the first period of Fibble was probably a consideration to make it as easy as possible for new fans to win the prize.

Fibble stands approximately 15 cm tall, consists of 5 parts, and is molded in a light purple color.

Missionary Boggess stands approximately 4 cm tall and is molded in a beige color.

これはフィブルのヘッダーですが、もともと宣教師とのマッチングが匂わされていたように感じます。題材が宗教画的に感じるうえに、修道士の仕事の一つに、写本がありましたが、活版印刷が最も活用されたのは聖書であり、それは布教にも大いに活用されたでしょう。

This is a header with copperplate style artwork.

This is a fibre header, but I feel that it originally smacked of a missionary match. In addition to the subject matter feeling like a religious painting, one of the monks' jobs was to copy books, but letterpress was most utilized for the Bible, which would have been of great use for missionary work.

今回も当選メールに、作品にまつわる解説がありました。

フィブルの名前の由来は、北欧神話にあり、神々の黄昏の前段階のフィンブルの冬とのこと。ラグナロクは、当然ながら知ってましたが、その前に3回フィンブルの冬という予兆があるとは知りませんでした。

フィブルは、コチコチという前身があり、人間に乱獲されるも、かろうじて生き延びた個体の数万体に1体が、この姿に変化するということです。

Again, in the winning email, there was an explanation about the work.

The origin of the name Fibru comes from Norse mythology, and the winter of Fimbul, the prelude to the Twilight of the Gods. I knew of Ragnarok, of course, but I had no idea that there were three premonitions of a fimbul winter before that.

Fibres have a predecessor called Kotikoti, which means that one in tens of thousands of individuals that are overhunted by humans but barely survive will change into this form.

ウータム、テタンと同じく、頭と身体が一体成形となっています。手と足はテタンのものが使われています。

頭と身体の一体成型は、ウータムとテタンの経験を通じて、より大胆に大きなパーツに造形されています。よくぞ、太ももの付け根の小さな湯口から引き抜けるものです。

As in Wutam and Tetan, the head and body are molded as one piece. The hands and feet are from Tetan.

The one-piece molding of the head and body has been sculpted into bolder, larger parts through the experience of Wu Tam and Thetan. How could it be pulled out of the small bathtub at the base of the thighs?

ウータムとテタンは、知性と感性という対義のテーマを持つペア作品でした。今作のフィブルは、それとはまた独立している作品と個人的には感じます。

北欧神話にその名前の由来があることを鑑みても、もっとファンタジックな要素を感じるのです。

The previous two works were a pair of works with opposing themes of intellect and sensibility. I personally feel that this work, Fibre, is a work that is also independent of that.

It has a more fantastical element to it, given that its name derives from Norse mythology.

ウータムやフィブルよりも寒冷な場所に住むということで、毛の量が多いですね。

油分が多いのか、凍ったのか、面白い形に髪がなびいています。

口の下あたりの細かい毛並みが、不気味で良いです。

It has a lot more hair than Wutam and Fibble, which means that it lives in a colder place.

The hair flutters in interesting shapes, whether oily or frozen.

The fine fur around the lower part of the mouth is nice and eerie.

人間に狩られて、数を減らされた怒りなのか、顔の筋肉がすごいことになっています。

筆で厚塗りされた塗料と、下地のテクスチャの効果により、油絵具の絵画のような重厚感です。東和玩具さんの、この塗装表現が、僕はとっても好きです！

Perhaps in anger at being hunted and reduced in number by humans, the muscles in their faces are amazing.

The thick paint applied with a brush and the texture of the base give the figure the appearance of a massive oil painting. I really like the way Towa Toys has expressed this paint job!

ウータム、テタンと比較して、逆三角形のマッシブなスタイルに加えて、寒冷地仕様の豊かな毛並み。特に胸の部分の厚みがすごいです。

東和玩具さんのソフビは、特に厚めの成形なのですが、毛並みの細かなモールド分、より分厚く、重厚に感じます。ずっしりと重く、他ではあまり見られないです。

Compared to the Wutam and Tetan, it has an inverted triangular massive style, plus a rich coat with cold-weather specifications. The thickness of the chest area is especially impressive.

Towa Toys' soft vinyl figures are especially thickly molded, but the detailed molding of the fur makes them seem even thicker and more massive. It is very heavy, which is not seen in other soft vinyl products.

中央、脳天からお尻まで流れる毛並み。肩甲骨、お尻のあたりに青系のパール塗料で影を入れて、立体感が強調されています。

In the center, the fur flows from the brain to the buttocks. Shadows are added with blue pearl paint around the shoulder blades and buttocks to emphasize the three-dimensional effect.

足裏が広く、踵もあるので、平面にペタっと吸い付くように立ってくれます。

It has a wide sole and heel, so it stands flat and absorbs to the flat surface.

絶妙なサイズ感。手の中への納まりが良い！！

続きまして、ボジェス宣教師です。

特徴的なヘアスタイルを見れば一目瞭然の、かのフランシスコ・ザビエルがモチーフです。

僕自身は無神論者ですし、過去を振り返ってみれば、神は悪魔よりも人間を殺していると思っている派（間接的にも直接的にも）です。当時の教会の中枢は、かなり腐っていたと思っています。それでも宣教師は、神の恩寵を信じて、未だそれが届かない辺境へ、善意で過酷な旅を経て啓蒙しようとしていた人で、教会でもかなり地位の高い人が任命されたそうです。僕個人は、大きなお世話だろうと感じていても、本人は真面目に、親切心からの行動なのでしょう。

ブッダの遺骨が仏舎利として世界中へ飛散したように、ザビエルの身体も聖遺物として分割されて世界へ散ったというのは知りませんでした。

Next is Missionary Boggess.

The motif is that of the famous Francis Xavier, as you can see from his characteristic hairstyle.

I myself am an atheist, and looking back on the past, I am of the school that believes (indirectly or directly) that God kills more people than the devil. I believe that the center of the church at that time was quite corrupt. Nevertheless, missionaries were appointed who believed in the grace of God and were trying to enlighten the frontier where it had not yet reached, through well-meaning and grueling journeys, and who were of very high rank in the church. Even though I personally feel that it would be a big favor, he must be serious and acting out of kindness.

I did not know that Xavier's body was also divided and scattered around the world as a relic, just as Buddha's remains were scattered around the world as a Buddhist relic.
