インスタグラムでテタンの姿が公開されると、びっくりしたのは、ウータムと同じく猿がモチーフということでした！ そして、なんと手足も新規造形！！ 元を辿れば起源は同じなのに、別々の能力に特化して別種へと進化していったかのような姿に仰天。

今回も当選メールに「テタン制作にあたり」という文章が追記されていました。
テタンの名前は、チベットの古都「ツェタン」に由来します。猿の地を意味し、チベット民族発祥の地とされます。チベット人の祖先は雄猿でした（ダーウィンの進化論以前ですよね……）が、観音菩薩から知恵と豊かな感性を授かると、尻尾が消えて人の姿となります。観音菩薩の教えに従い、麦を育て豊かな国となったそうです。今でもこの都市のまわりは、穀物地帯だと言います。
このエピソードから個人的に連想したのは、インドの天才数学者ラマヌジャン（1887 - 1920）の逸話です。魔術師との異名を持つ彼は、高等数学の教育を受けていませんが、当時の西洋の天才達が度肝を抜かれるような独創的な発見を成し遂げました。そんな彼に、発想の源を聞くと、神仏が啓示してくれた、と言うのです。
ウータムは古代中国の伝説上の漢字の発明者である蒼頡という個人をモチーフにしているのに対し、テタンは街という場所がモチーフというのも対比が際立っています。
知性を作ってから感性の作品に取り掛かるという流れも自然に感じました。ウータム制作には一年を要していて、それには初の他パーツ構成、かつ難しい分割でソフビを作るための試行錯誤があったのでしょう。対して、テタンはおそらく約半年とウータムの半分です。これにはノウハウが蓄積して、まさしく感性おもむくままに制作にあたれた、という部分もあるのではないでしょうか。
