まず、写真で見る世界シリーズと銘打ってるのに、写真が1枚もない（笑）。
挿絵は見事です。
世界各国の怪獣やUMAに関する話を寄せ集めてある感じで、文章量はバラバラです。
場所や時間など具体的なので、もしかしたら、本当にあったことなのかも……と思わせるリアリティがあるようなないような。
最後の宇宙の怪獣だけは、完全オリジナルな感じで、おそらく最後のこの章が読者に特にウケたんじゃないでしょうか。続刊の新・世界の怪獣はファンタジー色が強くなります。
The first book, Monsters of the World, has a high concentration of tons of occult books.

続刊の新・世界の怪獣は、10話+コラム方式となっていて、短編として読み応えある文章量になっています。個人的にこっちのほうが読みやすかったです。
いい大人が読むには、子供だましな部分がありますが、インディーズソフビのあの怪獣たちの面影が感じられ、資料としてとても勉強になりました。
The follow-up, New World of Monsters, has 10 stories plus a column format, and the amount of text is worth reading as a short story. Personally, I found this one easier to read.
Although some parts of the book are too childish for a good adult to read, I could feel the faces of those indie soft vinyl monsters, and I learned a lot as a reference material.
