１０月にメーリングリスト登録者向けに通販された、チャノマ玩具さんの新作「オヤチャイくん」です。原型公開時より、今までのシリーズとは色んな意味で異彩を放つ造形で気になっておりました。
オヤチャイくんは、野菜を組み合わせた人型のキャラクターで、可愛げのある名前の割に、どこか不気味さを感じるのが良いと思いました。
全高約１５センチ、４パーツ構成、成型色は黄色です。
This is the new Chanoma gangu "OyaChai-kun" that was sold by mail order to those who signed up for the mailing list back in October. Ever since the prototype was released, I've been curious about this figure because it's different from the previous series in many ways.
OyaChai-kun is a humanoid character made from a combination of vegetables, and I thought it would be nice to get a sense of the creepy side of the character for a character with a cute name.
It's about 15cm tall, has four parts and the mold is yellow.

大きさはこんな感じ。プロポーションは足が長く、カッコイイロボットのような感じ。デフォルメが効いていた、これまでの作風とは異なる印象です。

所持しているチャノマ玩具さん、シラハマトイさんの作品と並べて。まず、野菜というモチーフ選びが挑戦的です。キャラクターとしてキャッチーさを出しにくいし、難しいモチーフだと思いました。通ぶるつもりはないけれど、たくさんソフビを集めると、こういった異質なキャラクターが、コレクション棚の中で、とんでもなくオーラを放ってくれるんです。超カッコイイ！
The pieces I have on hand, by Chanoma gangu and Sirahamatoy. It's challenging to choose vegetables as a motif. I didn't find them catchy as characters and I thought they were a difficult motif. I don't mean to pretend to be an enthusiast, but when you collect a lot of soft vinyl, these different characters give off an awesome aura on your collection shelf. Super cool.

塗料もマットな感じです。頭部のキャベツは、青々と柔らかそう。
The paint is matte, too. The cabbage on the head looks lush and tender.

胸の部分はトマトかな？ 首周りはへたになっています。種が煤けた銅色に彩色されています。

両腕はししとう？ サツマイモかな？ 袖はさやえんどうに見えます。青色に着色しているのが面白い。

両足はとうもろこしです。本来天に向かって生えるとうもろこしを足に配置した発想が面白いですね。つぶつぶは光沢が出るまで磨かれてします。

野菜を組み合わせて出来たオヤチャイくんには、どこか人形めいた、意志が備わっているのか疑問になる不気味さを感じます。野菜のキメラというと、美術の教科書なんかで目にする１６世紀のイタリアの画家ジュゼッペ・アルチンボルドの作品を連想します。おそらく一番有名な「ウェルトゥムヌスとしての皇帝ルドルフ2世像」は、皇帝に献上された絵なんですけど、最初見たとき、王様を馬鹿にしているのかと思いましたが、皇帝はすごく気に入って貴族の爵位を与えたらしいです。芸術をわかる男は違うねぇ。僕もそうでありたいものです。
