新進気鋭メーカー、ピーポーピーポーさんの二体目の怪獣、ゾロン第一期です。
ピーポーピーポーさんの作品は、昭和60年あたりの怪獣ブーム真っ只中にあった当時モノソフビを彷彿とする作風で、オリジナル怪獣を発表されています。
当時のソフビは、ノウハウが蓄積されておらず、原型制作時間も短く、塗装は近所のお母さんがパートで仕上げるという感じで、いい加減というかアバウトな感じで作られていました。時代を経て、その変にこだわっていない、力の抜けた作りが味となって、高い評価を得ています。
それは当時モノならでは、と呼べる部分で、絵心のある人が、子供の絵を再現しようとしても、知識が邪魔をするように、今作ろうとしてもなかなか難しいようです。
ピーポーピーポーさんの作品は、当時製品化されなかった金型が発掘され、現在になり発売したと言われても、僕なら鵜呑みにしてしまうような再現度です。
本体以外のヘッダーや、付属のおまけも素晴らしいので、どうぞご覧あれ！

57体制作されたようです。インディーズソフビでスタンダードサイズとしては、なかなかのボリュームです。
当時、子供向けのおもちゃだったので、保護者への注意書きが書いてあります。

ここも当時はこんな風にソフビが作られたんじゃないか、という妄想かもしれないですね。

大きな頭部、細身のスタイリッシュな胴体、太い脚。

ゾロンの名前は、サイコロの５のゾロ目を彷彿とする目から取られたと推測します。

成型色は彩度の低めな草色なのですが、濃い緑で塗装されています。
牙や背びれは、薄くラメ入りの金？ 黄土色？ でスプレーされています。かなり濃淡のあるラフな塗装が当時の雰囲気を醸し出しています。

腕のところに、舌につかわれた茶色の塗料がわずかに飛んでるんですけど、ゾロンに関しては、これも意図された妙味です。大当たり！

尻尾は、地面からわずかに設置しないようになっています。くっついた方が、設置感は良くなりますが、これでゾロンの身軽さが表現されます。

ゾロンの成形厚みは、現代のソフビから比べると、やや薄めに成形されていて、柔らかく軽いです。これも意図されたもので、当時のソフビもこんな柔らかさと重さだったに違いありません。カンチャクの渋さも丁度良いです。
ソフビを集めて２、３年目の僕だったら、おそらく、この良さは解らなかっただろうな……、思えば随分と深みにハマってしまいました。ソフビにハマったのが大人になってからの僕にとって、当時ソフビに思い入れも知識もなく、それが引け目でしたので、こうして令和の現代に、こんな作品が発表されるとは、とても嬉しく思いました。
