前回に続き、ぶたのはなさんの７月に抽選販売されたソフビよりゴローの紹介です。
1966年にTBS系で放映された、円谷特技プロダクションの特撮テレビ番組『ウルトラQ』第2話「五郎とゴロー」に登場。
幼いころに両親を亡くして野猿と共に育ったために人間と話せず、村人からは「エテキチ」と呼ばれて敬遠されている聾者の青年・五郎に懐いていたクモザルが、旧日本軍の体力増強剤青葉くるみを大量に食べた結果、甲状腺ホルモンのバランスが破壊されて巨大化した。伊豆の山中や淡島の海上ロープウェーに出現したことで、大騒動となる……というあらまし。
巨大化の原因となった大葉くるみは、もともとヘリプロン結晶Gという名前でしたが、番組スポンサーに製薬会社がついたことで、忖度して変更になったそうです。このエピソードって、村八分された五郎、旧日本軍の非人道的な薬物、五郎を騙してゴローに睡眠薬を飲ませるとか、番組内容に通じていて、ちょっと人の闇を感じます……。
最後は、なんだか後味の悪い感じになっておいて、シリアスな道徳教育的なストーリーになっている印象です。
怪獣のスーツは東宝映画『キングコング対ゴジラ』で作られたキングコングを改造し、頭部を新調。今月販売された３体の繋がりが見えてきましたね。

Continuing from the last issue, here is an introduction to Goro from Buta no Hana's July lottery sale of soft vinyl.
He appeared in the second episode of Tsuburaya Special Effects Production's tokusatsu TV program "Ultra Q", "Goro and Goro", which aired on TBS in 1966.
A spider monkey that had been pining for Goro, a deaf young man who lost his parents at a young age and grew up with wild monkeys, so he could not talk to humans and was shunned by the villagers who called him "etekiti." As a result of eating a large amount of Aoba walnuts, a strength enhancer for the former Japanese army, the balance of his thyroid hormones was destroyed and he grew to a huge size. The spider monkeys appeared in the mountains of Izu and on the ropeway of Awashima Island, causing a huge commotion. ......
Ooba walnuts, which were the cause of the giant size, were originally called Helipron Crystal G. However, the name was changed due to the discovery of a pharmaceutical company as the sponsor of the show. This episode is about Goro being ostracized by the village, the inhumane drugs used by the former Japanese army, and Goro being tricked into taking sleeping pills.
In the end, the story left a kind of bad aftertaste, and I got the impression that it was a moral education story.
The monster's suit is a modified version of the King Kong made for the Toho film King Kong vs. Godzilla, with a new head. You can see the connection between the three figures that were sold this month.
The figure is approximately 13cm tall, made up of 6 parts, and molded in skin tone.
